The Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centre at the Great Western Hospital are currently extremely busy.

Although teams strive to see all patients as quickly as possible, those arriving with less serious injuries and illness may face a particularly long wait for treatment.

Local people are reminded to use the NHS 111 for advice and information on all non-urgent medical problems.

The service is free to call and open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Patients can speak to a fully trained adviser on the phone who can advise which local service is most appropriate and, in some cases, even arrange face-to-face appointments.

People are reminded to seek help at the first sign of becoming unwell to prevent the condition from becoming more serious.
