Swindon's provider of out-of-hours urgent care has been rated as outstanding by the healthcare regulator, after first picking up the accolade in 2017.

Medvivo, which has provided the Integrated Urgent Care Service for Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire since 2018, was given the Care Quality Commission's highest rating following an inspection in January 2019.

The award marks the first time that a provider of urgent care services has been given the honour after two consecutive inspections.

Among the areas praised in the CQC's report were Medvivo's clear vision and person-centred approach, its unique commitment to public engagement and its rigorous performance monitoring programme.

Liz Rugg, Managing Director for Medvivo, said: "This rating is recognition of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by our personnel in the provision of care services.

"To receive this rating twice is a fantastic achievement and a testament to everybody's commitment to patient care."

These comments were echoed by Michelle Reader, Chief Operating Officer, who said: "Everybody here should be congratulated for ensuring that Medvivo continues to deliver care of the highest quality.

"It also means the residents of Bath and North East Somerset and Swindon can now enjoy outstanding urgent care, just as their neighbours in Wiltshire have done for a number of years."

Medvivo Integrated Urgent Care Service brings together GP out-of-hours, NHS 111 and a new clinical assessment service.
