Some patients trying to contact Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) may be waiting longer than usual due to an unprecedented number of calls being made to the service.

In the last few days, POD - which enables patients across Swindon to order repeat prescriptions over the telephone - has been extremely busy, which has led to some people waiting for long periods or being unable to get through altogether.

Swindon CCG is aware of the current problem and is working hard to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, patients struggling to get through are advised to call the service at an off-peak time - usually in the afternoon on days other than Monday - or contact their local pharmacy directly.

Alternatively, patients calling between 9am and 12pm can request a callback from a member of the team for later the same day.

The Prescription Ordering Direct service is open on weekdays between 9am and 5pm and can be accessed by calling 01793 683755.

Swindon CCG would like to offer its sincere apologies to anybody inconvenienced by the current issues and is hopeful that normal service will resume as soon as possible.
