The NHS in Swindon offers a variety of treatment and advice options to make sure you get the best health care and you find links to many of them here in this section, together with other useful information.

If you're aged between 40 and 74, check out NHS Health Check for more on this excellent programme aimed at preventing conditions like stroke and diabetes.

To make the most of NHS health services you can choose the option that is right for your needs - saving yourself time and inconvenience, and getting the most appropriate treatment.  The number of people attending Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments and calling 999 is growing each year.  It is estimated that at least one in four people attending A&E could have been treated more quickly and effectively elsewhere.  Swindon CCG wants to direct patients to the service best suited to their illness or condition. In many cases this may be self-care, advice from a local pharmacy, or treatment at an NHS walk-in centre or minor injuries unit.A&E departments are there to deal with the most serious and life-threatening emergencies.  People should not to default to A&E if they have a less serious health issue, but choose from a variety of other services that are available to help them as described in the menu on the left of this page.
